WSTEM TO is an initiative aimed at creating a strong and supportive local community of women leaders in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), dedicated to gender equality in all STEM-related fields up to leadership levels
Launched in May 2019, WSTEM TO continues to grow steadily. WSTEM TO fosters the advancement of our network by providing regular MeetUps, mentorship, and professional development programs
December 2023: We're delighted to announce our partnership with Higher Landing, a pioneering organization committed to empowering professionals to navigate their career paths effectively, even in challenging economic landscapes. Led by Jackie Rafter, Higher Landing has been instrumental in guiding countless individuals toward purpose-driven career transformations. The success of our joint event in January 2024, featuring an inspiring keynote by Jackie Rafter herself, marks the inaugural connection between the Higher Landing and WSTEM TO communities. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting STEM professionals, with a particular focus on advancing opportunities for women in the field. WSTEM TO is excited to take the next step in shaping a future where every professional can unlock their full potential - stay tuned for upcoming events and initiatives as we pave our joint path for growth and success!
December 2022: We are excited to announce our partnership with the Society of Women Engineers Toronto (SWE Toronto). WSTEM TO and SWE Toronto share a common goal to support women in STEM in starting or advancing their careers and to enable them to rise together as a community. This partnership aims to increase visibility and awareness for both WSTEM TO and SWE members. We look forward to working with SWE Toronto in creating initiatives to serve the members of both organizations and cater their professional needs. This will be a great opportunity for the members of both WSTEM TO and SWE to expand their professional network and benefit from each other's programs.
November 2021: We are thrilled to announce a new Gold Sponsor! The collaboration with Sciex was launched recently, with a mutual goal of actively promoting gender equity and equality in STEM. Our discussions shed light on a real and acute issue around the recruitment of women for engineering and software development roles, and our collective responsibility for being proactive and finding ways to ensure we eliminate bias and reach enough female candidates during the hiring process.
May 2021: We are excited to collaborate with our new partner, SWE Ottawa. The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is the world’s largest advocate and catalyst for change for women in engineering and technology. SWE Ottawa has been a global affiliate of SWE since February 2020 with the mandate to promote the retention and advancement of all women-identifying engineering professionals in the Ottawa area. We are happy to welcome you at SWE Ottawa's events that focus on connecting, networking and career development. Engineering professionals of all genders are welcome at SWE Ottawa events!
April 2021: We are happy to share that we’re launching a collaboration with IWS! IWS-Network is a grassroots organization born out of similar but independent ideas from women who saw the need to provide support and mentorship to fellow Immigrant and International Women in Science (IWS). Early in 2018, while discussing the mentorship activities they were doing in their respective cities, these women realized they could join forces and invite other women to form a Canadian-wide IWS Network. This idea spread rapidly, and thanks to the great support received by many other women across Canada, IWS Network is currently present in multiple Canadian cities, with prospects to grow even more in the future.
February 2021: WSTEM TO is thankful to our friends at Takeda Canada for their partnership and for their commitment to promote gender equality in STEM. Together, we share the vision of creating a Canadian ecosystem where women have an equal opportunity to excel in all STEM disciplines, including the biomedical fields. The only way towards scientific and technological excellence is by removing barriers and promoting inclusion. We look forward to a productive and meaningful partnership.
September 2020: WSTEM TO is delighted to acknowledge Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization as our new partner. We look forward to this collaborative partnership enabling access of our community to various aspects of health innovation economy and working towards the common goal of making Ontario a leader in Bioscience Innovation and Commercialization.
August 2020: This month, we are also pleased to commence our collaboration with BioTalent Canada as they embark on a new journey for the Student Work Placement Program that now includes healthcare professionals across Canada. This is a great opportunity for employers in healthcare sector to bring on eager to learn students for a special project through personalized and quick application process and funds that cover up to $7500 of a student´s salary.
